Healing our metabolism

Let’s talk about healing our metabolism…for good.

No matter if you are diabetic, pre-diabetic, obese, metabolically unhealthy (i.e., overweight), chronically inflamed, have cardiovascular disease or fatty liver, or any number of other chronic conditions that you are dealing with, the root cause problem is that your glucose metabolism in your mitochondria is broken.

Here is how to fix it!

First: STOP EATING PUFAS. We have already discussed how exactly to do this here. If you want to heal from this horrible epidemic-level damage that’s been forced on our population, you have to take drastic action. Seed oils should not be allowed in any form into your home. Check the labels of everything that goes in your mouth or on your skin. Commit to no fast food and severely limit eating in restaurants. Do not eat fatty chicken, pork or fish, as these are full of PUFAs. Stick to ruminant animals (beef, bison, venison, elk, lamb, etc) only.

Second: START EATING LOTS OF SUGAR, and reduce the fat you eat. After over 10 years of believing the opposite, it pains me to say that sugar is key. You must force your body out of fat burning mode and back into sugar burning mode. Right now, because of dis-regulation and inhibition in your mitochondria, your body is STUCK in fat burning mode. The best way to fix this is to ramp up the carbs and lower the fat.

Remember, when I say “sugar” I am NOT talking about cookies and donuts.
Foods like those are one of our main problems, because they are sugar combined with seed oils.
Nope. No way.

Stick to these “sugars:” fruit juice, raw honey, maple syrup, and whole fruits.  Before you eat anything, start off your day with a glass of organic (not from concentrate) orange juice. Have a good amount of fruit, fruit juice or raw honey with every meal. Have a spoonful of honey or maple syrup between meals. Have some tart cherry juice before bed and a good tablespoon of raw honey with sea salt right before sleep.

At first, do not be concerned with weight gain or loss. Let your body focus on healing itself. The healing phase can last months for some people. A big part of it for me was learning to be hungry again and listening to hunger cues. This told me that my body was not relying on fat anymore, but was ready for more sugar. THIS IS THE CORRECT CUE and it took me a few weeks to get that back.

Gone are the “bulletproof coffee” days. You absolutely do not want to go all morning on a cup of coffee with heavy cream and butter in it. Drink your coffee with NO cream and a tablespoon of maple syrup instead, and only AFTER breakfast, because you don’t want to rev up your metabolism until your body has sufficient sugar in the mitochondria to rev it up properly, which is why we start the day with orange juice.

Your body needs some fat as building material. So make sure you are getting only about 20%-30% of your calories from fat (you may be able to raise this after your goals are met and your body is healed). But the goal is to convince your body (after years of telling it the opposite) that there is enough sugar and it doesn’t need to burn primarily fat anymore for energy. It can use the fat just for making hormones and membranes, and possibly a few areas of the body that can safely utilize it for energy at rest (like our muscles).

I cannot emphasize this enough - you must get your body out of fat burning mode!

Your body is doing this for two reasons:

1. It doesn’t “see” much sugar coming in and so assumes there’s a famine and is using stress hormones to ramp up fat burning to survive,

*OR*

2. The sugar burning is broken/deranged/inhibited and so it is forced to use stress hormones to ramp up fat burning to survive.

So, you must not only reduce the damage (seed oils), you must reduce the fat to help your body recognize the sugar coming in, and then repair and upregulate the sugar burning. This will automatically reduce the stress hormones that are blocking all kinds of functions in the body (weight loss, fertility, energy, brain function, etc).

If you have full blown diabetes, you should consider using a practitioner to help you heal through this process. They will be able to assess your current state and guide you in slowly and safely raising your sugar intake. I highly recommend Jay Feldman or Mike Fave

Third: Take these supplements for your mitochondria!

• B1 vitamin complex (especially B1/thiamine - and B3/niacin) like this one

• Vitamin E (to help detox the seed oils)

• Pure aspirin (take a low dose, 110 mg, from this company)

Magnesium

• Methylene blue

Pregnenolone (this hormone is a pre-curser to testosterone and progesterone and other important nutrients in the body, helps men or women)

• Thyroid Fixxr (this contains T2 to help your thyroid)

Get your hormones checked (thyroid, testosterone or progesterone) to see if you need to supplement with any bio-identical hormones.

This is just the beginning. We will cover a more in-depth eating plan soon, but for now concentrate on these steps (plus your carrot salad!) and get that healing phase started.
