We have educated our audience on skincare quite a bit. We have talked about what are we putting on our skin, and what’s actually in those products. But there’s one area we haven’t talked about much: Haircare.
And after spending some time looking into it, we realized it really deserves the same attention. Does the ingredient list on your shampoo and other hair products make sense? And maybe most importantly… do we really need all of the stuff that gets added to so many everyday products?
Let’s talk about it! Because your scalp is skin, your daily routine can involve a lot of daily exposure to different ingredients, and the products we tend to use for hair care stay in contact with our heads for quite a while.
That doesn’t mean every ingredient in every shampoo somehow ends up inside your body. Your skin is an incredibly effective barrier. But we still think there’s value in being thoughtful about what we’re putting on our skin and scalp every single day.
That’s been our approach with skincare, and it’s the same approach we’re taking with hair care.

One of the brands we’ve been loving lately is Fountain Head Hair. We like their overall approach to ingredients and, just as importantly, we like how straightforward they are about what’s actually in their products. Their Raw Honey Shampoo, for example, provides a full ingredient list rather than just highlighting a handful of key ingredients.
The formula includes raw honey, maca root, provitamin B5, chamomile, calendula, and coconut-derived cleansing ingredients. We appreciate seeing the whole ingredient list and being able to make informed choices instead of relying on a marketing buzzword like “all natural.”
The Hair Products We’re Loving
Our current favorite is the Raw Honey Shampoo in the Rosemary scent. First, it actually feels good to use. That sounds obvious, but anyone who has tried to switch to a more ingredient-conscious personal-care product knows that sometimes there’s a tradeoff. Something can have a great ingredient list and still leave you wondering why your hair feels like straw.
This one gives you the lather you expect from a shampoo, while using coconut-derived cleansers. Fountain Head also specifically formulates it without sulfates, parabens, silicones, phthalates, artificial fragrances, and alcohols, according to the product description.
And the rosemary scent? It is really good. The Aloe & Honey Conditioner has become part of the routine, too. These products smell fresh without being overpowering, which is exactly what we want from something we’re using on our heads several times a week.
We also really love their salt spray and hair oil. The salt spray adds texture and volume and gives your hair that effortless, just-got-back-from-the-ocean kind of feel without actually having to spend the day at the beach. The moisturizing oil is great when your hair needs a little extra hydration, shine, or help with that dry, frizzy feeling. Then comes beard application, a great product doesn’t have to be labeled “beard oil” for it to end up in the beard!
But this is another area where we appreciate keeping things simple. We don’t need a cabinet full of 14 different hair products. We’d rather have a handful of products that work and that we feel good about using, and these products are it.

Our Current Hair Care Lineup
We found something we like, we’ve been using it, and we wanted to share it with you. No special links, not yet, anyway.
We always share products because we genuinely like them, not because we’re getting paid to tell you that you should buy them.
Right now, the routine is pretty simple:
Raw Honey Shampoo
Aloe & Honey Conditioner
Salt Texture Spray
Moisturizing Hair Oil
Just like we’ve done with skincare, we are trying to be more intentional about the products that are part of our everyday routines! We’re not interested in making people afraid of every ingredient they can’t pronounce. We also aren’t interested in pretending that “natural” automatically equals perfect.
What we do believe is that it’s worth paying attention.
Read the label.
Look at the full ingredient list.
Think about how often you’re using something.
And then decide what fits your own priorities.
Until next time, be well!
