The Super Gut way to a healthier you!

We hope you have enjoyed our review of Dr. William Davis’ book Super GutWe encourage everyone to make their gut health a high priority. You would be amazed at how much the rest of your body is affected by what is going on between the microbes from your mouth to your colon. It is crucial and should not be left out of any health plan!

Many of Dr. Davis’ recommendations for gut health that fall in his four-week plan align perfectly with our vision for amazing health. For instance:

Avoiding sugars and synthetic sweeteners and nasty emulsifying agents

Eating organic foods whenever possible

Avoiding standard American wheat and grains (laced with glyphosate!)

Avoiding prescription medications

Supplementing with essential nutrients like:
iodine, magnesium and cod liver oil

Eating many types of fermented foods (not just homemade yogurt)

Also, I learned something very interesting from Dr. Davis about curcumin. Many people take this supplement to help their joint pain. They will take a more “absorbable” or “bioavailable” form that has added piperine or bioperine, but this is actually the opposite of what we want.

We want the curcumin to NOT be absorbed and to STAY within the GI tract. Dr. Davis doesn’t believe that the curcumin itself is affecting inflammation or pain directly outside of the GI tract. It actually is reducing the unhealthy bacterial species and their terrible affects on the rest of the body. Indirectly, inflammation and pain is reduced as a side benefit.

Here is what he says:

We supplement with this compound derived from the spice turmeric to help undo many adverse effects on the microbiome, intestinal mucus, and the intestinal barrier — curcumin is one of a few compounds that favorably addresses all three factors in intestinal health.

It reduces the populations of several unhealthy bacterial species of the Enterobacteriaceae family as well as fungi, increases production of intestinal mucus, and improves the intestinal immune response. Curcumin is therefore front and center in our efforts to restore bowel health.”
— Dr. William Davis

But again, you do NOT want it to be absorbed into your body, you want it to stay inside the gut to have the greatest effect and to avoid any negative affects that could happen if curcumin leaves the GI tract. Get this type of curcumin here. Dr. Davis says pulsing with a 4-8 week course is the best way to take it. Start with 300 mg twice per day, then increase to 600 mg twice per day.

We also want to mention that Dr. Davis does recommend several herbal antibiotics that you may want to include in your plan. If you have some stubborn issues that won’t resolve, this may be just the thing to jump start your gut and will help your body eliminate bad bacteria. They can be used before you start your homemade yogurt, or right alongside it.

They are taken as a pair, and are available from Amazon:

We will close with the following word from Dr. Davis:

I hope that you now recognize the enormous power you harbor just below your diaphragm. That thing that annoys you with its churning and gurgling after a meal is actually a factory that you can put to work to manufacture products that keep you young, help you sleep, shape your physical appearance, and brighten your outlook. It’s like turning the light on in your garage and discovering that you have a shiny, brand-new automobile that can take you places you’ve never been before.
— Dr. Davis
